2024 Proper Walk Safari

Itinerary

July 18: You will begin the Adventure for a Cause as you touch down in Nairobi. We will be ready to whisk you away from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the serene Jacaranda Hotel.

July 19: We will drive south to the paradise that is Hunter’s Lodge. Nestled amidst the lush gardens of Kiboko Springs, the lodge is home to over 100 species of birds - an ornithologist’s dream come true!  

July 20: The team will embark on an exhilarating hike up Mt. Mielu, an extinct volcano that promises panoramic vistas, and maybe even a glimpse of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. After the climb, continue your journey to Makindu, where a heartwarming welcome and delicious lunch await at the Makindu Children's Centre (MCC).  We will complete the day with a vegetarian dinner at the historic Sikh Temple in Makindu and retire at Hunter's Lodge.

July 21: We will travel back to the MCC to engage in meaningful service projects at the Centre with the children, guardians, and staff members - which will only strengthen newly found friendships. The projects could involve painting, working in the shamba (garden), or even building benches. Lunch will be served at the MCC.  The team will end the day with dinner and relaxation at Hunters Lodge.

July 22: A group of the MCC children will accompany us to experience the untamed beauty of Tsavo West National Game Park, one of Kenya's esteemed elephant reserves link.   Delight in a buffet lunch at the Kilaguni Game Lodge with the children and return to Hunters Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

July 23: We will be up early to travel North into the Great Rift Valley to Bobong Camp - https://www.bobongcamels.com/ -  on the enchanting Laikipia Plateau. John and Amanda Perrett from Bobong Camp will welcome us with warm hospitality, dinner, and drinks. We will then settle into canvas tents equipped with comfortable cots and linens.

July 23-27: The team will embark on an exciting 4-day Proper Walk with camels across the scenic Laikipia Plateau, covering 30-35 miles. Whether you choose to walk or ride a camel, you will have exceptional opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.  

July 27: We wrap up the last day of the Proper Walk and head towards the Nakuru area. Spend your night at the Alps Hotel - where you can truly experience the difference.

July 28: We will rise early for a Morning game drive at Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its rhinos, buffalos, and flamingos link. Later, we will travel back to Nairobi, retreating to the familiar comfort of the Jacaranda Hotel, where an Kenyan Buffet dinner tops off the Proper Walk Safari.  

July 29: The Proper Walk & Safari concludes, leaving us all with a heart full of memories and a camera full of breathtaking shots.
